Heir Island (also known as Hare Island or Inishodriscol) is a unique island that lies Southwest of County Cork, Ireland. The island is situated amidst Carbery’s hundred isles that lie scattered throughout the magical Roaringwater Bay. Heir Island caters for both the young and old – a perfect setting for everything from water sports and walking to exploring and relaxing. County Cork B.P. & P. Association of New York annual banquet 2012

The County Cork B.P. &P. Association of New York invites you to join in celebrating the St. Patrick’s season, at it 128th annual banquet, on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Antun’s, 96-43 Springfield Blvd., Queens Village, NYC. Deluxe cocktails will be at 7:00pm followed by Dinner with dancing to the Black Velvet Band. This year, we are delighted to honour three distinguished members of The County Cork B.P. & P. Association.

Our 2012 Cork Man of the Year, JEREMIAH HARRINGTON, is President and owner of Rockledge Scaffold Corporation, a successful Scaffold company in New York’s construction industry. Jeremiah is the youngest son of John & Ellen Harrington (nee McCarthy) and was born and raised in Derrynakilla, Coomhla, Bantry, Co. Cork. In 1982, he and his wife Noreen (nee Cronin) immigrated to New York. where after working with various scaffold companies he started Rockledge Scafold Corp. Our Guest of Honour is also active with the Cork NY Football Club where he served as Chairman for three years. Under his leadership, the club ascended to the finals two years in a row (2009 & 2010) for the first time in many years. He is an avid supporter of several charities including the Aishling Irish Center, Special Olympics New York and the Grace O’Gorman Fund. Jeremiah and Noreen are the proud parents of John and Jeremiah.

Our Cork Woman of the Year is MARY POWER (nee Desmond), a native of Grenagh, just north of Cork City. In 1969 Mary and husban Tom immigrated to New York, and currently reside in the Yorkville section of Manhattan. While raising sons Desmond and Gary, Mary became a founding member of, and held many offices in, her block association. She devoted much time to parents association in her sons’ schools, becoming a hockey, baseball and soccer mom for many years. In 1989 Mary joined the County Cork Association, becoming quite active and holding many offices. She was President of the association for 2009 & 2010, presiding over the organizations successful 125th Anniversary in 2009. Over the years, the Power family has expanded to include daughters-in-law Karen and Jamie, grandson Aiden. Mary has been employed by New York Presbyterian Hospital for over 20 years.
